Home of the Friendship Fire Company. When the building was constructed in 1855, it became home to the oldest volunteer fire company in Alexandria. Exhibitions include early vehicles and other fire-fighting equipment.

Completed in 1773, this is a Georgian style church with a Palladian chancel window, an unusual feature for a Virginia church of the period. George Washington and Robert E. Lee were among early worshipers.

Meadowood Recreation Area

Meadowood Recreation Area contains a variety of terrains and vegetation types. These include gently sloping open meadows, mature hardwood forests along steep slopes and floodplains, and riparian areas, freshwater ponds and streams. The diversity of plant communities within Meadowood provides a great variety of habitats for wildlife within a rapidly urbanizing region. The wildlife found at Meadowood includes deer, foxes, raccoons, amphibians, hawks and eagles, resident and migratory birds and waterfowl, insects and more. Meadowood offers environmental education programs for homeschoolers, public and private schools, local 4-H groups and community youth agencies.
